Joshua D. Ammons is a dedicated economics lecturer and liberal education advocate. He currently serves as a Graduate Lecturer at George Mason University, a role he began in fall 2022. Joshua has also worked full-time at the Institute for Humane Studies since 2014 as a Community Engagement Strategist, focusing on entrepreneurship, housing, trade, economic development, war, and immigration.
He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Economics at George Mason University, expecting to complete it in 2024. He earned his Master's in Economics from George Mason in 2019 and his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi in 2014.
Joshua has published academic research in journals including Public Choice, The Independent Review, and Journal of Markets and Morality. He has also contributed a book chapter published by Palgrave. His research interests include institutions, economic development, international economics, and the intersection of social movements and political economy.
At the Institute for Humane Studies, Joshua directs academic programs and facilitates interdisciplinary conversations. These programs include in-person research symposiums and online research discussions. His work in online education at the institute began in 2014.
